From the Vrettas Family

Dear Men's Club Members,

We would like to thank the Men's Club Community for all of the love and support you have shown us during the losses of our parents, Bill and Joan. The last year has certainly been a difficult one for us, but the years preceding it were times filled with lots of love and laughter with many of our friends from the Men's Club. We fondly remember the early years at the ballpark, getting to know many of our dear friends, and even had a good laugh at watching Joan cross the finish line during one of the Field Day parent events. Summers were always filled with such fun for all. And even as the next generation took over (yes Jack, that is you), our parents still remained fixtures at the Men's Club events such as the summer social. The last 10 years have been challenging health years for our parents, but there was never a moment that one of their close friends from the Men's Club was not over at 14 Penn Ave helping them with some chore or just simply visiting and sharing a laugh. We thank you all for the love and kindness you have shown our family over all of the many years we have had together. Although Penn Ave will never be the same, we intend to keep the doors wide open to all of our friends in honor of our parents. That is the way Joan and Bill would want it to be. Their spirit will always be there, welcoming each and everyone of you with open arms. So please do not be a stranger.

Sending you all love and wishes for good health!

Glens, Billy and Holly

2020 Million Dollar Bike Ride for MSUD

June 13, 2020

My name is Herb Foster, but my friends call me Butch. I serve on the board of Directors for MSUD Family Support Group. I have been asked to step  in as Team leader for this year’s Million Dollar Bike Ride (MDBR) sponsored by the university of Pennsylvania’s Orphan Disease Center (ODC).

First of all I hope this letter finds all our Falmouth Men’s Club members and their families safe and sound during these very difficult times.I have been a member and Past President of the Men’s Club for many years and have many fond memories of all the great times we have shared and all the good work the club has done for our Children and the Community.

I am writing this letter to appeal to the membership for a cause my wife Diane and I have been involved in for almost 49 years. Two of our children were born with a very rare Metabolic disorder called MSUD which only effects 1in 180,000 newborn children. Our son Scott passed away from the illness at the age of 22. Thru the New England Organ donor bank all his organs were donated to people that needed them.

Our daughter Katie grew up in the Men’s Club program and worked one season at the field with the Girls program. She has her Masters degree and teaches high school special needs students. She has two children Kayla and Petey. Kayla just turned 7 and will be attending the girls program for her second summer if we get thru the pandemic in time.

This will be the 3rd year I will be participating in the bike ride but due to the Covid 19 pandemic instead of traveling to Philadelphia, I will be riding on the Falmouth bike path. As the team leader for Team Scott, I will try to complete the longest ride which is 72 miles and try to complete it in two days.

I would like to thank the Orphan Disease Center at the university of Pennsylvania for all they do and for matching the first 30,000 dollars of money raised and for overseeing the research projects. Also, for inviting our organization to participate again this year.

If you would like to make a tax deductible donation you can go to my Giving Page ( http://giving pages.upenn.edu/curemsud )

Or you can write checks to the university of Pennsylvania MDBR and mail them to my house at 199 Surf Dr. Falmouth, MA. 02540.

My wife Diane and I would like to thank you for any support you may give to help children with this illness live a better life.

Officers' Message

Dear Member:

Welcome to the summer of 2018! After a string of Nor’easters and cold weather into April, we are all looking forward to reconnecting with our summer family in the Falmouth sunshine.

This year we celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Men’s Club and we encourage all to participate in the Club’s events and help keep the Club vibrant going forward. We encourage all members to attend our two meetings (June 30th and August 25th) which are always fun, social settings where bonds and new friendships among members are formed. Our Member-Ringer golf tournament will be held on July 28th. This is our only major fundraising event of the year, so please consider purchasing a foresome and/or sponsoring part of the event. The highlight of the summer, as always, will be the summer social at Soprano’s Casino by the Sea (formerly the Casino Wharf FX) on August 11th. Last year’s “Yacht Rock” theme was a hit, and hope you are looking forward to what is being planned for this summer. As always, we are actively seeking volunteers to help out with these events, so please contact one of the Club Officers if you are able to get involved. The Club was formed through active volunteerism, and we need the same from our next generation of members.

As always, the athletic program will be held at Heights Field, with the traditional Hexathalon and Field Day. This year, we are excited to have a Falmouth Commodore assist with the program who grew up playing on the same field during the summers.

To ensure that that club is also financially strong into the future, we hope you will consider sponsoring our “70 for 70” campaign. As you know, the membership dues have been a nominal $50 for many years. We hope that members will consider making a one-time voluntary increase of $20 this year to celebrate our anniversary.

Please check our website (www.falmouthMC.com) and Facebook page (www.facebook.com/FalmouthMC/) for updates throughout the summer on Club activities. We send out periodic emails to members, so please also join our email list by sending an email to falmouthmensclub@gmail.com if you have not already.

We look forward to seeing you on Opening Night as we continue the traditions that our past Club Presidents and leadership have built over many years.

Regards,

Officers' Message

The summer of 2017 has finally arrived and we can all look forward to another great year with the Falmouth Men’s Club.

Over the winter and spring, we have made significant efforts to improve the manner in which we communicate with our members. Many of you should have received an email from us, asking you to save the dates for our events. If you didn’t, please send an email to falmouthmensclub@gmail.com so we can add you to our list and stay connected with you. These email communications are in addition to this Program and Membership Book and are not intended to be a replacement.

As the Men’s Club approaches 70 years old, the club needs the younger generation of members to step forward and get involved to ensure the mission of the club continues into the future. We encourage all members to attend our two meetings (July 1st and August 26th), which are always fun, social settings where bonds and new friendships among members are formed. Our Member-Ringer golf tournament will be held on July 22nd. This is our only major fundraising event of the year, so please consider purchasing a foresome and/or sponsoring part of the event. The highlight of the summer, as always, will be the summer social at the Casino Wharf FX on August 12th.  We are actively seeking volunteers to help with these events, so please let us know if you are willing to get involved. This club was formed through active volunteerism, and we need the same from our younger members to help the club remain vibrant going forward.

We look forward to seeing you on Opening Night as we continue the traditions that our past club presidents and leadership have built over many years.

Regards,

Officers of the Falmouth Men’s Club
